Pet's to the UK... UPDATE

As mentioned below, from the 1st January 2012, you will be able to ship pets directly to the UK provided you have the correct blood test.

Please note that the full requirements are yet to be confirmed however it appears that dogs will also require a tapeworm immunisation a day or two prior to the date of travel but this should not affect cats.

Once the decision have been made, we will be able to confirm exact requirements.

Eid Mubarak to all our Customers.

The Muslim holiday of Eidu Al-Fitr is due to finish on the 3rd September 2011.

All Governmental agencies and Ministries are due to re-open on Monday 5th September.

This will include Customs however please understand that there will be a back log on clearances due to the extended holiday.
Ex-Pat Logistics would like to wish our customers Ramadan Kareem.

Due to the Islamic month of fasting, services into and out of Saudi Arabia will be effected due to the reduced working hours.  Ramadan is due to run from about the 1st August to the 28th followed by the festival of Eid for 1 week commencing straight after Ramadan.

Eid is a National Holiday in Saudi Arabia and all the government departments will be closed or very limited service.  This will include Customs which will only handle priority shipments during this period.

Any shipment arriving during Ramadan or Eid will most likely be delayed in clearance.  Due to the backlog it will take several weeks after the holidays for the normal service to resume.

Storage charges and Demurrage will still be applied on shipments after their usual free period so please ensure that shipment don't arrive during this time if it is at all possible.

Ramadan is the 1st August 2011 until 29th August 2011
Eid will be the following week

Great News for Pet Owners going to the UK...

On the 30th June 2011 DEFRA, the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs in the UK, announced that pets travelling into the United Kingdom from the 1st January 2012 will not have to go through the costly and very long quarantine period that has existed for the past 200 years. There regulations will come in line with those of the European Union.

The basic requirements now mean that provided your pets have a Rabies Neutralisation

Certificate and concurrent and up to date vaccinations, you will be able to enter the UK without delay.  The certificate can be applied for and once 3 months have passed, you will be able to enter freely.

The full specification is still being finalised so watch this space for updates!

Restrictions Placed on UK Carriers…

The UK Department for Transport has put a ban in place restricting the transportation of electronic items in unaccompanied baggage. This means that if you want to ship personal effects by air to the UK and you have any electronic items then both of the British Carriers servicing Saudi Arabia are not permitted to carry them. This also applies to any cargo that would transship in the UK.

The DfT has yet to give any idea on the duration of this embargo.

Please visit; http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/TravelAndTransport/Foreigntravel/AirTravel/DG_176922 for more information on what you are permitted to take when flying

Important Notice for anyone wanting to send a pet out of Saudi Arabia…

It is a requirement for the vast majority of pets being transported internationally to have a Rabies Neutralisation Certificate which is at least 3 months old. Due to the fact that the test is completed outside of Saudi Arabia, the time from testing until the certificate is raised plus the 3 months compulsory period often means that you will need to wait around 4 months before you can ship.

Please note that the Rabies Test is often referred to as either Rabies Serology Test, Rabies Neutralisation Test or simply the rabies blood test.

Noteworthy Current Embargo's…

NO Unaccompanied Electronic Items on British Carriers entering the UK

NO Food stuffs entering the United States of America & Canada

NO Printer Cartridges (INK or Laser Cartridges) as part of a personal shipment on ALL Airlines
